Frequently Asked Questions
Is your church part of a denomination?
We are members of the Christian and Missionary Alliance, a movement which began in 1887 and has now spread to seventy countries. We are propelled by the belief that Jesus Christ is the answer to people's deepest needs -- not religion, not the church, not a creed, but his living person. He brings compassionate healing to every broken area of our lives, and we are eagerly waiting for him to come back as he promised. In the meantime, we are working to help as many people to meet him as possible.
What if I was raised in another denomination?
Our church contains people who come from many different religious backgrounds. That is why we are called an “alliance” church. We seek to maintain cordial fellowship with all churches and Christians who believe in the Christ of the Bible.
Do you believe in the Bible?
We accept the sixty-six books of the Bible as the actual words of God to all people. We figure that if God is able to create everything that we see, then he is also able to tell us what he wants us to know. We see the Bible as a Christ-centered document, leading us to know him personally. We do not teach the Bible as a rule book to use to make ourselves acceptable to God.
Are you a Spirit-filled church?
Yes we are. We believe that the primary evidences of the filling of the Holy Spirit are a holy life and a commitment to serve Christ. We think that all of the spiritual gifts are for today since the Bible never said that they would end. The New Testament gives clear guidelines for the manifestation of the gifts.
Do you have a political affiliation?
We believe that the mission of the church is far higher than any political party or view. Jesus said his kingdom was not of this world, and so we do not try to build it here. We encourage each individual member to be informed and involved as responsible members of the community.
What kind of sermons should I expect?
We believe that the most important thing we can do for our people is to teach them to know God through the Bible, so we do a lot of Bible teaching with clear applications to daily life.
